Youth Spend Bank Holiday Weekend Helping Out At Cleeve House!
Over the weekend, nearly 20 young volunteers came together to lend a hand in repairing and preparing Cleeve House for the upcoming summer season
Over the bank holiday weekend of the 3-5th of May, youth from across our community, met at Cleeve House to help build up our precious building back to it’s former glory and even better. It brought our youth together with the guidance of more-experienced members who took time to visit and help with the gardening of the patio. The weekend was organised by YSP UK as part of its efforts to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals through investing in community and sustainable projects.
Here is a brief overview of the weekend from one of the organisers-
‘Last weekend at Cleeve house YSP UK organised an opportunity for youth to gather and invest time into renovating the house with its new sustainable goals. Volunteers cheerfully helped to paint the hallways as well as worked in the sun to dig up weeds and plant lavender along the patio. It offered both an escape from the city and a great chance to bond with new people for everyone. Overall it was a wonderful weekend, filled with laughter and memories with people spending their free time playing card games, having conversation groups and even playing frisbee on the field. We are so grateful for everyone who took part and cannot wait to engage the youth in our next project!
We had 14 people stay for the whole weekend (above the initial capacity!), in addition to the Cleeve House crew and some people who popped in and out throughout the weekend, including Elliot Y. the pastor for the area.’ - Sophia N.- Director of YSP UK
Here is also a testimony from one of the participants-
‘Volunteering at Cleeve House over the weekend was so wonderful, everybody came with a readiness to serve which was transferred into the weekend, everybody gelled and worked so well together, there was a point where we were all in the kitchen to get food and it really felt like a little family. I love that I was able to create memories with those people and so happy that we were able to invest our time and energy at Cleeve House.’
