Spotlight On Korea: South Korean President Set For UK State Visit

Next week, the President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, is slated to embark on a State Visit to the United Kingdom at the invitation of His Majesty the King.

The upcoming State Visit by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, accompanied by his wife Mrs. Kim Keon Hee, marks a special occasion as they journey to the United Kingdom at the invitation of His Majesty the King.

Scheduled from Tuesday, November 21st to Thursday, November 23rd, 2023, the State Visit will be held at Buckingham Palace, where the guests will be hosted by The King and Queen.

The King and Queen will extend a formal welcome to the President at the Royal Pavilion on Horse Guards Parade. The occasion will feature presentations, a Royal Salute from the Guard of Honour, and the Republic of Korea's National Anthem.

Following a private lunch hosted by The King, His Majesty will invite The President and the First Lady to explore a unique exhibition in the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace, showcasing items from the Royal Collection related to the Republic of Korea.

Later on, The President and the First Lady, accompanied by His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester, will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Korean War Memorial, marking the 70th anniversary of the conflict's end.

In the evening, a State Banquet will be hosted by The King at Buckingham Palace for The President and the First Lady, featuring speeches from both dignitaries.

On the Wednesday, the President is scheduled to attend the Shaping the Future: UK-Korea Business Forum at Mansion House, where he will give the opening address.

The afternoon includes a bilateral meeting between The President and the Prime Minister at No. 10 Downing Street, with the First Lady hosted separately.

Evening activities will consist of a Banquet at the Guildhall hosted by the Lord Mayor and City of London Corporation, featuring speeches by The President and the Lord Mayor.

The State Visit signifies a significant milestone in the relationship between the UK and South Korea. We anticipate that this meeting will foster positive developments and pave the way for promising collaborations between the two nations.
