Japan’s Religious Persecution Escalates: Calls for Global Support in Upholding Freedom of Worship
Facing government persecution, our movement in Japan joins other religious groups in urging global action to protect religious freedom. A petition is open for support.
Our movement in Japan is facing severe persecution from the government authorities acting in an unfair and unconstitutional manner. But we are not alone: several other groups, larger numerically, are also facing similar attacks, including the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Perfect Liberty Kyodan, a Japanese new religious movement. Further afield, some of our members are currently in detention in China.
This matter is increasingly urgent. Religious freedom is a fundamental human right, and we call upon the United States and the new administration to uphold America’s long tradition of fighting for freedom of worship for everyone, everywhere.
