Our Community at Work: Mentoring Initiatives for Young Adults

Our education and mentoring efforts continue to grow, strengthening leadership and spiritual care. With new programs and workshops, we're fostering a supportive and connected community.

This year, we successfully strengthened and expanded our education and mentoring efforts. The network of youth and young adults we support has grown, as continued investment in existing relationships has empowered mentees to support those younger than them. With natural connections to leadership in other second and third-generation programs, we see great potential in combining leadership development with personal support.

Through our educational programs, we welcomed three new groups this year: HARP UK workshop staff, Children’s Camp staff, and broader second and third-generation community leaders seeking to enhance their pastoral care.

We are fostering a culture of spiritual care and leadership, where our core staff proactively engage in mentoring meetings and conversations. These efforts shape targeted education at our group events. Our approach is a long-term investment in our community, ensuring we care and lead from a place of identity and authenticity rather than position and obligation.

This commitment is reflected in the increasing quality and variety of projects we’ve introduced to meet the evolving needs of our community. Alongside mentoring, we hosted four workshops this year: “Companions of Faith” for ages 18+ in January, mentor training in June, “Changing Gears” for brothers aged 25+, and “Boarding Time” in November for ages 18-21. These workshops provide vital spaces for young adults to receive education and build meaningful connections.

Thank you for your continued support this year. We look forward to further growth in 2025. Here are some reflections from participants:

“Refreshed. This experience was soothingly good—a gift and an opportunity to cultivate and refine my inner landscape, both emotionally and mentally. Companions of Faith provided a space to pause and reflect on key questions I often take for granted or avoid. How much more am I willing to shed my self-centeredness and prioritize others? How much do I truly involve God in my life?” – Male, 28

“This workshop was highly impactful. I knew I needed to make changes, and it helped me understand how I’ve been holding myself back spiritually and in relationships. I realized that struggling between my original and fallen nature is part of my journey, not something to condemn myself for. I’m determined to take on life’s challenges with courage and creativity, fulfilling my responsibilities and bringing God into the centre of my life.” – Male, 27

“I hope to continue challenging myself, achieving my goals, and becoming a champion.” – Female, 20

“Each day, each lecture took me deeper into understanding myself and how I respond to my environment. It’s rare to be that honest with myself—it’s like a muscle I’ve trained over these three days. My older brothers and sisters shared so openly and radically, making this possible.” – Male, 20

“I enjoyed deep conversations with people I wouldn’t usually talk to and gained new perspectives from speakers. I took away key points that resonated with me and plan to make small steps to apply them. This workshop reaffirmed the importance of investing in my early life to ensure I’m happy with myself and able to extend help to others.” – Male, 20
